What a month February was! The Philadelphia Eagles won another Super Bowl. They hosted a victory parade on Valentine’s Day. They even found time to send their college scouts to the Senior Bowl.
The NFL Combine helped us flip the calendar’s pages to March, which means the Phillies are nearing another opening day.
Before the latter happens, we’ll see a new NFL league year begin, and we’ll talk about free agency and another NFL Draft.
Another edge rusher will be the target. We’ve mentioned guys who should be available at pick 32 and afterward. Here are a few other names to add to that list
Ranking the Eagles best EDGE options who will be available after Round 1
Josh Sweat figures to hit the open market. Brandon Graham is expected to retire (but, he hasn’t yet). Bryce Huff hasn’t quite been what we hoped he’d be.
Philly could address their needs at edge rusher with the 32nd pick, but what if they don’t? Here are a few guys we hope they can land if another need is taken care of early.
Must read: 1st-round draft options for the Eagles at pick 32 (including a few wild cards)
1. Mykel Williams, Georgia Bulldogs
Draft experts who are better at this than we are give Mykel Williams first-round grades. Last September, he suffered a sprained ankle in UGA’s season opener vs. Clemson and missed a month.
Call it a hunch, but we feel Philly can trade back, add a few picks, and still land him if they don’t see anything they like at 32.
2. J.T. Tuimoloau, Ohio State Buckeyes
Some days, we grade J.T. Tuimoloau’s teammate Jack Sawyer higher. Sometimes, the opposite happens. Today, J.T. feels like a second-rounder, someone who might be available in the 55-62 range.
Last season, he notched 61 total tackles, two forced fumbles and 12.5 sacks during 16 games en route to his third First-Team All-Big Ten nod (2022–2024) and finishing his career as a College Football Playoff National Champion.
3. Klye Kennard, South Carolina Gamecocks
Kyle Kennard is a six-foot-five, 254-pound Consensus All-American. He earned First-Team All-SEC honors, the SEC Defensive Player of the Year trophy, and the Bronco Nagurski Trophy.
South Carolina is a program on the rise. Kennard is a huge reason that’s the case. We’d be discussing him a lot more often had he played for Georgia, Michigan, and Alabama. He’s going to do work in the
4. Jared Ivey, Ole Miss Rebels
We spend so much time discussing Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss offense whenever the Rebels are brought up, but they have some ballers on defense.
Don’t sleep on Princely Umanmielen, and don’t sleep on his teammate Jared Ivey. The latter will work wonders in a 3-4 front that allows him to stand up on the outside.
He racked up 42 tackles, two forced fumbles, and seven sacks last season, giving him 17.5 sacks, 165 tackles, and four forced fumbles for his 58-game career that spanned five seasons, including two in the ACC
