Liverpool release Alexander Isak fitness statement after Newcastle United forcecast comes true
The Sweden international is far from fit as Liverpool pick up the pieces from Alexander Isak strike
Liverpool released an Alexander Isak fitness statement after the striker failed to make the bench in his new club’s 1-0 win over Burnley.
The Sweden striker did not participate in any team training with Newcastle this summer after Eddie Howe revealed the star went “on strike” as he refused to play in any of Newcastle’s pre-season matches.
A Liverpool statement on their club website read: “Liverpool are aiming for Alexander Isak to be ready to make his debut when they host Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
“The Sweden international, a deadline-day arrival at the Reds, has trained alongside his new teammates at the club this week.
“He was not, though, named in the matchday squad by Arne Slot for Sunday’s resumption of Premier League action away at Burnley.
