Columbus, OH – In a surprise move, the Ohio State University Marching Band has unveiled a new fight song, “Scarlet Fury,” which will replace the iconic “Buckeye Battle Cry” that has been a staple of OSU tradition for decades.

 

The new song, which was debuted during the band’s performance at the spring football game, was met with a mix of excitement and nostalgia from fans and alumni.

 

“We’re thrilled to introduce ‘Scarlet Fury’ as our new fight song,” said Dr. Christopher Hoch, director of the OSU Marching Band. “This song embodies the spirit and energy of the Buckeye Nation, and we’re confident it will become a beloved tradition.”

 

The decision to replace “Buckeye Battle Cry” was not taken lightly, according to Hoch. “We understand the significance of ‘Buckeye Battle Cry’ to our fans and alumni, but we felt it was time to introduce a new song that better reflects the modern era of Ohio State football.”

 

“Scarlet Fury” was composed by OSU alumnus and renowned musician, John Mackey. The song features a driving rhythm and soaring melodies that are sure to get fans on their feet.

 

While some fans may be sad to see “Buckeye Battle Cry” go, many are embracing the change and looking forward to singing along to “Scarlet Fury” at future games.

 

“I’m excited to learn the new song and be a part of this new tradition,” said OSU junior and marching band member, Emily Wilson. “I think ‘Scarlet Fury’ is a great representation of the Buckeye spirit.”

 

The OSU Marching Band will perform “Scarlet Fury” at all future football games, beginning with the season opener in September.
