Madrid prepared to wait until 2025 to sign €60 million-rated target for free for two solid reasons

As has been well-established by now, Real Madrid have a concrete interest in signing Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies in the summer transfer window.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue with the Canadian left-back himself understood to be keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, negotiations with Bayern Munich could prove to be an issue as they will play hardball over the transfer fee even though Davies has only one year left on his contract and does not plan on signing a renewal.

Real Madrid prepared to wait until 2025

Now, Fabrizio Romano has come up with an update on Real Madrid’s stance as far as their pursuit of Alphonso Davies is concerned.

As per the Italian transfer expert, Real Madrid would ideally prefer to sign Davies from Bayern Munich in the upcoming summer transfer window itself.

However, if the Bavarian giants set a steep asking price of around €60-70 million for the Canadian international, the Merengues are prepared to wait for him until next year.

As mentioned earlier, Davies’ contract with the Bundesliga heavyweights expires in 2025 and with a renewal out of the question, he would be available for free next year.

And, Real Madrid would have no problems waiting until the summer of 2025 to snap up the left-back in a free transfer rather than paying a sum of €60-70 million for the speedster this year.

What would that mean for Ferland Mendy?

It must be noted that Real Madrid already have two reliable left-backs in Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

It has been widely suggested that Mendy, whose contract expires in 2025, will be sold this summer to make room for Davies as there is no place for both in the team.

However, the Frenchman is not looking to leave and is eager to stay on, with manager Carlo Ancelotti also in favour of that.

Should Real Madrid postpone the signing of Davies until 2025, it would likely lead to Mendy staying at the club, at least for another year.
