Alabama Lands Massive 2026 Commitment as Elite Safety Jett Washington Pledges to the Tide During Visit — No. 3 Safety and Top-40 National Talent Joins Saban’s Defensive Legacy

The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to stack elite talent in their defensive backfield, this time landing a huge commitment from 2026 4-star safety Jett Washington.

The standout defender made his decision during his official visit to Tuscaloosa, becoming one of the headliners of Alabama’s early 2026 recruiting class.

Washington, the No. 3 safety and No. 37 overall prospect in the nation according to 247Sports, chose Alabama over top programs like Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and LSU. The 6-foot, 190-pound DB out of IMG Academy (FL) has long been on Alabama’s radar, and his commitment is a major win for head coach Kalen DeBoer and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack as they continue to reshape the Tide’s future.

“This place just feels different,” Washington said after announcing his commitment. “The tradition, the way they develop safeties, the way Coach Wommack broke down my film—it all just clicked. Alabama is where I’m meant to be.”

Washington’s visit to Alabama was a full-circle moment. The Crimson Tide had been recruiting him hard since his breakout sophomore season, and the in-person experience sealed the deal. He spent extended time with the coaching staff, toured the facilities, and got a clear picture of how he’d be utilized in Bama’s aggressive, fast-paced defense.

As a sophomore at IMG, Washington posted impressive numbers: 68 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. His instincts, range, and explosiveness have made him one of the most feared safeties in the country. He’s a true sideline-to-sideline playmaker who brings a physical edge to the secondary and excels both in coverage and run support.

With Washington’s commitment, Alabama’s 2026 class gets a major jolt and sets the tone for what could be another top-tier group. His presence not only boosts the Tide’s national recruiting profile but also reinforces the program’s continued emphasis on elite defensive talent.

Jett Washington is built for SEC football—and now he’s headed to one of the most storied programs in the game. Alabama just secured a future star in its secondary, and his impact could be felt in Tuscaloosa for years to come.
