New York jets Head coach Aaron Glenn makes surprising Announcing that QB Justin fields has been made…

a bold move signaling a new era for the New York Jets, head coach Aaron Glenn has officially named Justin Fields as the team’s starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season. This announcement comes shortly after Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, including $30 million guaranteed, on March 13, 2025.

Fields, 26, joins the Jets after a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he started six games, achieving a 4–2 record and totaling 10 touchdowns (five passing, five rushing) against just two turnovers. His dynamic playing style and dual-threat capabilities have generated excitement among Jets fans and the coaching staff alike.

Head coach Aaron Glenn, known for his defensive acumen during his tenure with the Detroit Lions, expressed confidence in Fields’ potential to elevate the Jets’ offense. “We believe Justin is the starter,” Glenn stated. “We believe in Justin – we believe we can win with Justin. So, we’re excited about Justin.”

The Jets’ decision to appoint Fields as QB1 marks a significant shift from their previous quarterback strategy. The team parted ways with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers after a disappointing two-year stint marred by injuries and underperformance. Rodgers’ tenure concluded with a 5–12 season in 2024, leading to the dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas.

General Manager Darren Mougey, who joined the Jets alongside Glenn, emphasized the organization’s commitment to Fields. “We believe in Justin. We believe we can win with Justin, so we’re excited about Justin,” Mougey affirmed.

Fields’ arrival in New York also reunites him with former Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson, now a standout wide receiver for the Jets. The duo previously led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff appearance, and their renewed partnership is anticipated to invigorate the Jets’ offense.

Looking ahead, the Jets are poised to build around Fields’ strengths. The team holds the 7th overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft and is expected to focus on bolstering the offensive line, tight end, and defensive line positions to support their new quarterback.

As the Jets embark on this new chapter, the organization and its fans are hopeful that Fields’ leadership and athleticism will usher in a period of sustained success and end the franchise’s prolonged playoff drought.
