Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for veteran duo Toni Kroos and Luka Modric ahead of their key contract decisions.
Both players wrap up their current deals in the Spanish capital at the end of June after signing extensions last summer.
The duo have previously followed the club pattern of signing one year renewals offered to players over 30.
However, with Ancelotti rotating his midfield this season, 2024 looked to be the end of an era for at least one of his experienced pair.
Kroos has looked more likely to extend, ahead of linking up with Germany at Euro 2024, but Modric appeared to be edging towards an exit.
Modric now looks set to sign a new deal, on reduced terms, with Ancelotti delighted to keep such experience in his squad.
“Toni is a person who always has very few doubts, he’s very clear, and very honest. The profile of a person that I like, besides being Italian, I do feel a little German”, as per quotes from Diario Sport.
“I’ve never had a problem with Modric because as well as being a top level player, one of the best midfielders in the world, he’s a spectacular person. We’ve never had a problem, nor will we, because we respect each other a lot.”
If Real Madrid win the Champions League in June, Modric will become their most decorated player in history, with 26 titles, after playing over 500 games in Madrid.
