Even renowned doctor, Rajpal Brar, has been unable to offer too much comfort to Arsenal following Bukayo Saka’s injury scare whilst playing for England. The winger, who started for Lee Carsley’s side in the eventual 2-1 defeat to Greece, was forced off in the second half.
It has not been an uncommon sight in recent years to see Saka limping during matches as he feels the brunt of opposition defenders. It is rare that he is stopped from playing though.
Against Greece, Saka lasted just five minutes after half-time before he was replaced by Noni Madueke. Helped by England physios, the 23-year-old was once more seen grimacing and limping as he left the field.
Carsley, who suffered an embarrassing loss on the night, couldn’t give much in the way of an update when probed afterwards. “He’s being assessed,” the interim boss said. “In the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”
Taking to social media, Doctor Brar explained that in a video from open play: “Saka [is] clearly holding the back of his right leg here which typically indicates hamstring [problems]”.
He added: “Unable to watch but am told he felt it during a sprint and then after kicking with that leg. The hope is a grade 0 which means no overt injury and just discomfort. TBD [to be determined].”
