When Mehdi Taremi’s close-range flick struck Merino on the arm just before halftime, Merino would be made to regret the mistake even more after giving up a harsh penalty. Hakan Calhanoglu managed to maintain composure and sneak the penalty kick away in spite of a protracted VAR review.
