Following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, Arsenal returned to training on Monday in preparation for their final Champions League group-stage match on Wednesday. However, Arsenal defender William Saliba was a notable absentee from the session.
The Gunners overcame Wolves despite being reduced to ten men in the first half after the controversial dismissal of Myles Lewis-Skelly by referee Michael Oliver. Saliba, who missed last week’s games against Brighton and Dinamo Zagreb, was fit to feature at Molineux but was absent from training two days later.
Sky Sports News reporter Jamie Weir, reporting from Arsenal’s training ground, noted: “William Saliba was absent from Arsenal’s Monday morning training session. He was a doubt ahead of their game against Wolves on Saturday, but it may be that he’s doing an individual recovery session today.”
In more positive news for the Gunners, club captain Martin Ødegaard was back in full training after missing the Wolves game due to illness. Meanwhile, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined but are nearing returns.
