It was another banner day for the Texas Longhorns as 10 players received 2025 Preseason Coaches’ All-SEC team selections. First-team honorees Tre Wisner, DJ Campbell, Anthony Hill Jr., Colin Simmons, and Michael Taaffe all made the first team.

Malik Muhammad and punter Jack Bouwmeester were selected to the second team, while Trevor Goosby, Trey Moore, and Will Stone landed on the third team.

Also, it’s second consecutive season Hill, Moore, Muhammad, and Stone found their names on the All-SEC list.

Missing from the preseason teams is Arch Manning.

I’m surprised, not because I think he deserves it, but because of all the hype surrounding him throughout this preseason. Manning is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy and he’s the quarterback for the preseason No. 1 team in the country.

Again, doesn’t warrant an All-SEC selection, but the media has not been shy about hyping up the former five-star, No. 1 overall prospect in the country.

He was third on the Media Days All-SEC team, though. And the Longhorns were predicted to finish first and win the Southeastern Conference.

Arch Manning wasn’t selected Tuesday, but he still managed to make headlines.

Manning met with local media after another practice concluded at fall camp. When asked about what his grandfather, college football legend Archie Manning said about his future, Arch gave an interesting response.

“I don’t know where he got that from,” Manning said. “He text me and apologized about that. I’m really just taking it day-by-day right now.”

In a feature story with Texas Monthly, the elder Manning was asked about Arch’s future at Texas and a potential jump to the NFL.

“Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas.”

Regardless of what the media or coaches think, Arch Manning isn’t concerned.

“It definitely helped me a lot looking. I was definitely not ready to play my freshman year,” Manning said. “I learned a lot and learned a lot about myself and I think it’s helped me a lot.

“I think that’s just who I am, I’m not a guy who seeks out the media,” Manning said. “It’s really about the team, 11 guys on the field. We’re excited right now, I’m just having fun. I dreamed about being in this position so I’m not going to take it for granted.”
