Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has shared a glimpse into his recovery process after sustaining an injury that forced him off during the Gunners’ recent clash with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel was substituted with about half an hour remaining, leaving Arsenal’s backline in a challenging configuration as they sought to defend their lead.
During the match, Thomas Partey held his position at right-back, while Ben White moved centrally to cover for the suspended William Saliba. By the time Gabriel exited the field, Jakub Kiwior and Jurrien Timber were tasked with handling the left side of defence. Timber, however, was soon seen struggling with cramps, and Miles Lewis-Skelly ultimately finished the game at full-back.
Liverpool capitalised on Arsenal’s defensive struggles, with Mohamed Salah eventually levelling the score. Earlier goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino had put Arsenal in a promising position, but Virgil van Dijk’s header and Salah’s equaliser shifted the momentum, leaving the Gunners to settle for a point. Manchester City emerged as the weekend’s real winner in the title race, as Arsenal’s draw kept the standings tight.
