Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has encouraged the Gunners to pursue a January move for ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The 31-year-old, currently serving an 18-month ban for doping offences, will be eligible to return to action in March 2025 but could begin training in January. Pogba remains under contract at Juventus, though he is reportedly seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
Sagna believes Pogba would be an ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, as Arsenal look to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title. Speaking to Paddy Power, Sagna explained why he feels Pogba would thrive at Arsenal.
“The Premier League suits Paul Pogba – I would love to see him join Arsenal. He has experience, and he performs best when surrounded by young, energetic players,” Sagna said. “At the 2018 World Cup, Pogba excelled with friends around him, and I see him performing in an Arsenal shirt. The fans would give him the support he needs, and he could start fresh with a renewed desire to play.”
