BREAKING; Yankees’ Secret Weapon Set to Return—You Won’t Believe Who’s Coming Back

New York Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt is reportedly closing in on a return from injury. The right-hander, who hasn’t pitched yet in 2025 due to rotator cuff tendinitis, is expected to rejoin the team’s rotation on April 15 or 16, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Hoch noted on X (formerly Twitter) that Schmidt is set to come back after making two strong rehab outings.

Schmidt was placed on the injured list prior to Opening Day, with the team eyeing a mid-April return. Barring any setbacks, that timeline now appears to be on track.

Meanwhile, Marcus Stroman is dealing with a knee issue. It’s unclear if he’ll be placed on the IL, but if so, it could clear a roster spot for Schmidt’s return. If Stroman remains active, the Yankees will need to make another move to fit Schmidt onto the roster.

Regardless of how it shakes out, Schmidt’s return is imminent — and the Yankees could use his presence in the rotation.
