Riccardo Calafiori has been named in the Serie A Team of the Year at the Gran Gala del Calcio – Italy’s version of our PFA Awards.
The Italian international was nominated thanks to his displays for Bologna last season as he helped them to fifth place in the table and a spot in the Champions League, losing just six games all campaign and conceding the third-fewest goals in the division.
Riccardo’s performances saw him capped by the Azzurri in the build-up to Euro 2024 and he featured twice at the tournament before switching to north London in the summer. And that breakout year certainly caught the attention of his fellow professionals, who voted him into the annual dream team from the country’s top division.
