Casemiro was able to rest and heal in South America, so he missed United’s win at Sheffield United last weekend. This was partly because he was already suspended for the Champions League match against FC Copenhagen last week. But on Monday, the 31-year-old practiced with the rest of the team and was thought to be ready to play Manchester City. Yet, Ten Hag didn’t think he had a good chance. He said, “Casa is a race against the clock, he’s not 100%.”

At his pre-game news conference at Carrington, Ten Hag was asked again about Marcus Rashford’s drop in form. Rashford scored just one goal in 12 games for his club this season, down from 30 goals last season. Ten Hag said, “Trust him and play him in every game.” “He plays every game and finishes every game, so I’m sure he’ll get back to scoring a lot of goals.”

We showed this week some situations where we were overloaded and went to the other team’s goal, but we didn’t score or even hit the target. We need to do better. We can’t train right now, but we can teach them.

“I am sure that our players will score more goals because of how good they are.”
