Casemiro has discussed his emotional exit from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.
After winning the Champions League for the fifth time in Paris against Liverpool, the Brazilian ended a nine-year association with the Los Blancos.
He signed for Manchester United in a £70 million move, penning a four-year contract with the option of a fifth.
Casemiro is believed to have told his agent, “Tell them I’ll fix it” following United’s dismal 4-0 defeat to Brentford and helped the club qualify for the Champions League in his first season, as well as scoring in the Carabao Cup final win.
I decided to leave a little after winning the Champions League. I already saw that my time at Madrid was over, I was at a good age to leave, I wanted to continue growing. The decision was not easy at all, people loved me a lot.”

Casemiro went on to reveal that he did have some doubts about leaving on one particular day.
The feelings came after he spoke to manager Carlo Ancelotti, who coached him across two spells.

The Italian is typically stern in the face but cried as he told him Casemiro he wanted him to stay.
“I only doubted once about leaving Madrid for Manchester United. It was a Friday and everything was done. I had to train and I didn’t train, the only thing missing was the signature. I’m going to talk to Ancelotti and he already knew I was leaving.
