Xavier Worthy of the Kansas City Chiefs was arrested on Friday night in Williamson County, Texas.
According to Adam Teicher of ESPN, the soon-to-be second-year wide receiver out of Texas has been charged with “assault of a family or house member and impeding the breathing or circulation.”
Worthy was booked on Friday night by the Williamson Sheriff’s Office, and as of Saturday morning, there is no record of him posting bail.
The Chiefs are aware of the arrest but haven’t made a statement yet. The NFL is aware of Worthy’s arrest and has reached out to the Chiefs, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The charges against Worthy are a third-degree felony that can be punishable by two to 10 years in prison as well as a $10,000 fine, according to Teicher.
Worthy was selected with pick No. 28 in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Chiefs and had a strong rookie season with 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns (plus three on the ground).
From Fresno, Calif., Worthy was a star for the Texas Longhorns from 2021 to 2023.
