Their 43-acre estate near Chipping Norton is usually kept away from prying eyes, but their beach was in the background of a scene were David and Victoria chatted on her self titled show.
“Neighbours think it is totally out of character for the surrounding area and they are very twitchy around adhering to the rules,” a source told the Sun. West Oxfordshire district council added: “A report of a planning breach has been received and it will now be investigated”.
David has spent years cultivating a tranquil escape at the Cotswolds estate since buying the property nine years ago. He has spared no expense turning the grounds into a lush haven – complete with vegetable patches, chickens, bees, and a selection of roses planted especially for Victoria and their daughter, Harper, 14.
David and Victoria bought their Cotswolds home in December 2016 for approximately £6.15 million. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing in the countryside as the Beckhams ruffled some feathers among their neighbours.
Their plans to build a new barn after the England legend sought planning permission for an “agricultural storage barn for hay/straw and agricultural equipment” caused uproar.
One upset local, Harriet Jones, told West Oxfordshire District Council in a letter of objection: “This is just the latest in a long line of applications to build new structures on this land, plus a giant lake.
“Why do famous people move out to the country and then clutter up their land with endless buildings and make silly alterations? It makes no sense.”
They were granted planning permission to construct a kitchen garden and glasshouse so that they could grow their own fruit and vegetables. One nearby resident told the council: “Many people locally indicated to West Oxfordshire Council that the increase in the residential curtilage of this property will see an ever-increasing number of buildings, and to date we have all been proved right.”
Last year, the duo also bought a new nine-bedroom mansion in Miami – and paid the £55million in cash. They already have a £18million flat in the Florida city with Victoria. The two pads are part of the couple’s impressive property portfolio, which also includes a £31million townhouse in Holland Park, west London.
