Gabriel Magalhaes’s wife has broken her silence after the Arsenal defender handed manager Mikel Arteta a major injury blow after he was forced off against Fulham on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners lost the centre back just 16 minutes into their Premier League clash, with Gabriel suffering a hamstring injury.
The player went straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Arteta in the early stages of the tie, and Arteta confirmed that Gabriel was due to undergo a scan on Wednesday to understand the extent of the injury.
The London side will now face a nervous wait to see if Gabriel will be fit ahead of the team’s first Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid next Tuesday.
And Gabrielle Figueiredo was unable provide reassurance for fans when she opened up on her husband’s injury on Wednesday afternoon, discussing the challenges on-pitch issues can present for the families of Premier League players.
‘It’s difficult,’ Figueiredo said at a screening of Amazon Prime’s Married To The Game. ‘I think the perfect example is now, because he got injured yesterday.

Figueiredo is set to appear on the second season of the documentary series, which follows the wives and girlfriends of Premier League stars including Gabriel’s team-mate Jorginho.
The programme allows viewers an insight into the glamorous world the players and their partners inhabit, but Figueirdo stressed on Wednesday that offering support in moments like this one can prove immensely difficult.
