As a Chelsea legend, it’s no secret that I have a fondness for the blue half of London over the red. However, I have to give credit where it’s due – Arsenal look primed for a serious title challenge next season. While the Gunners have a number of talented players, there’s one in particular that I believe will be the key to their success” said the former England international.

The Norwegian midfielder has truly blossomed since joining Arsenal permanently in 2021. His vision, passing ability, and control of the tempo of the game are reminiscent of some of the best playmakers I’ve faced over the years. What sets Ødegaard apart, though, is his consistency and leadership.
Too often, we’ve seen young talents at Arsenal struggle to perform at the highest level week in and week out. Ødegaard, on the other hand, has shown an uncanny ability to deliver big performances in the biggest matches. His displays against Manchester City and Chelsea last season were pivotal in Arsenal’s push for Champions League qualification.
With a full season of experience under his belt, I expect Ødegaard to take his game to new heights next year. He will be the engine that powers Arsenal’s attack, orchestrating their play and unlocking defenses with his incisive passing. Opponents will have to dedicate extra resources to trying to shut him down, which will in turn create opportunities for the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli to thrive.
It’s no secret that I’d love to see Chelsea lift the title next season. But if I’m being honest, Arsenal have assembled an impressive squad and Ødegaard could be the difference-maker that propels them to glory. He’s a special talent, and I have a feeling the entire Premier League will be talking about him this time next year.
