After coming off the bench against Brighton, Gabriel Martinelli hit a big Gunners landmark by reaching 200 appearances for the club.
The Brazilian brought up his double-century at the Amex Stadium, five years after making his debut in a 1-0 win against Newcastle United in August 2019 aged just 18. In fact, Gabi has become just the 16th player in our history to reach 200 appearances before his 24th birthday.
His 200 previous appearances are made up of 141 starts, as well as being brought on as a substitute 59 times. 146 have come in the Premier League, while 32 were in European competitions – 20 in the Europa League and 12 in the Champions League over the past couple of seasons.
Five years of Martinelli: Gabi on his growth in N5
13 have come in the League Cup, while eight more have arrived via the FA Cup, plus a solitary Community Shield appearance.
In that time he has found the back of the net 47 times, including twice in his past three games. Having started his Arsenal career by scoring in each of his first four starts – a feat only matched by Ian Wright in 1991 – he has an incredible record of never losing when scoring for us which stands at a club-record 37 matches and counting.
The amazing Arsenal record Martinelli has extended
Gabi is the 116th player to make 200 appearances for us, and just the sixth non-European to do so. One other Brazilian on that list is Invincible Gilberto Silva, who played on 244 occasions during his time at the club.
