GOOD NEWS: Jesus Luzardo Honors His Calling. Helping the Phillies and Serving a Higher Good

Jesus Luzardo’s Hot Start Helps Phillies and a Greater Cause

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jesús Luzardo is off to an impressive start in the 2025 MLB season. Through three starts, the 27-year-old left-hander has posted a 2-0 record with a 1.50 ERA. Acquired in an offseason trade from the Miami Marlins, Luzardo has quickly emerged as a key piece in what could be one of the best starting rotations in the league—a crucial factor in the Phillies’ pursuit of an NL East title and a deep postseason run.

But Luzardo’s impact goes beyond his performance on the field. Major League Baseball has highlighted his involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. His strong start to the season includes 25 strikeouts so far, and his efforts are tied to a charitable initiative benefiting the organization.

The Phillies are currently 8-4 and are expected to contend with the New York Mets throughout the season, following their 2024 NLDS exit at the hands of that same division rival. Luzardo’s addition was one of the team’s key offseason moves, and early results suggest the trade is paying off.

Originally from Lima, Peru, and raised in Florida, Luzardo appears to be hitting his prime. While fans are thrilled with his early-season dominance, his work off the field is earning him admiration in the Philadelphia community as well.

As much of the Phillies roster edges toward the latter stages of their careers, Luzardo’s emergence is a promising sign. His success, both on and off the field, reflects the kind of well-rounded presence the team hopes will drive them toward a National League pennant.
