The biggest transfer soap opera in recent years is about to be put to bed. Kylian Mbappe, who announced earlier this month that he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season as a free agent, will finally be joining Real Madrid, and official confirmation of the move is pending.
Mbappe has been incredibly coy on his future over the last few weeks, but speaking to CNN (via Diario AS), he confirmed that the identity of his next club will be revealed very soon.
“It’ll all be revealed in a matter of days. I think it will be official soon and I just want to enjoy this time without a club. I have my contract with PSG, so someone is still paying me for the moment!”
The expectation is that Mbappe’s arrival will be announced in the days after Saturday’s Champions League final, which Real Madrid will contest against Borussia Dortmund. Until then, the topic does not attract much focus at the La Liga champions, although it is good for them that the matter will be finalised before the European Championship, with kicks off in two weeks’ time.
