Leichhardt Oval Upgrade: How this affects your Membership

The Wests Tigers can provide an update on the Leichhardt Oval upgrade and how it will impact your ticketed Membership in the coming years.

Leichhardt Oval holds a special place in the hearts of many Members and fans. This redevelopment will deliver the upgrades needed to meet modern standards while preserving the ground’s character and strong community connection.

This article outlines what’s changing, what the timeline looks like, and what Members can expect over the next few seasons.

What’s changing at Leichhardt Oval

The upgrade will bring major improvements to both the experience for fans and the facilities required for professional and community sport. Key elements of the project include:

  • A new northern grandstand with increased capacity
  • An upgraded western grandstand (Latchem Robinson Stand), including improved bar, seating and media facilities
  • Female-friendly change-rooms that meet NRLW standards
  • A new lower seating bowl around the field with modern stadium seating
  • Enhanced public amenities, including upgraded food and beverage outlets, additional toilets, and improved accessibility

These upgrades are being delivered with support from all levels of government and will ensure Leichhardt Oval remains a viable venue for NRL, NRLW, and community fixtures for many years to come. More information can be found here.

Timeline and Key Milestones

To minimise disruption, the upgrade will take place in stages. Here is what Members can expect over the coming seasons:

2026 – Three home games will be played at Leichhardt Oval as usual. This will be the final season before major construction begins.

2027 – No games will be played at Leichhardt Oval while construction takes place. All Wests Tigers home games will be relocated to alternate venues during this period.

2028 – Leichhardt Oval will reopen with at least three NRL home games scheduled to return to the venue. The ground will feature the upgraded facilities outlined above.

Information for Reserved Seat Members

We understand the importance of maintaining your seat at Leichhardt Oval. To help protect your place for the reopening in 2028, we are asking reserved seat Members to maintain an active ticketed Membership for both the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

By renewing in both years, you will retain your priority to secure your existing or equivalent reserved seat when the upgraded venue reopens.

We also want to reassure members that the 2027 Membership will be available at the same price point as 2026. While there will be no matches at Leichhardt Oval during that year, holding your Membership will ensure your place is preserved and that you remain part of the club’s ongoing plans for the venue.

We appreciate you’re understanding and ongoing support as we work through this important transition.

Thank You for Your Support

Leichhardt Oval is part of our identity as a club. We know how much it means to our Members and fans, and we are committed to ensuring it remains a central part of our future.

We will continue to keep Members updated as the project progresses.
