Rugby league star Liam Horne has shared an emotional farewell to Castleford Tigers supporters following confirmation of his move to the Leigh Leopards.
The 27-year-old Papua New Guinea international has signed a three-year contract with Leigh after being released from the final year of his deal with Castleford. The move marks the beginning of a new chapter for the talented hooker, who has quickly earned respect across the Super League for his energy, skill, and consistency.
Horne joined Castleford midway through the 2023 season and became one of the club’s most dependable performers. His powerful displays and tireless work ethic helped the Tigers maintain their Super League status, and in 2024, he was rewarded with the Player of the Year award — a testament to his influence both on and off the field.
Taking to social media, Horne expressed his deep appreciation to the club and its fans, saying:
“Thank you Castleford for giving me an opportunity to live out my childhood dream and to all the fans who have supported me from day one. I am sad to leave you guys but also excited for my new journey. I’ll miss you guys.”
The message touched many Castleford fans, who praised Horne for his dedication, humility, and professionalism throughout his time at the Jungle.
Castleford, who are currently restructuring their squad, now face the challenge of filling the gap left by Horne’s departure. However, the move is seen as mutually beneficial — giving Horne a fresh start at Leigh while providing the Tigers flexibility to strengthen in other key areas.
As he steps into his new role with the Leigh Leopards, Liam Horne leaves behind not just strong performances, but a legacy of gratitude and respect — proving that sportsmanship and heart are just as important as talent on the field.
