Loan watch: Lokonga returns from injury

Nuno Tavares helped Lazio to a dramatic 2-1 victory against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League round of 16.

The full-back played 55 minutes before making way for Manuel Lazzari as Lazio had two players sent off in Czechia.

But Gustav Isaksen’s late strike gave the Italian side a slender lead to take back to Rome for the second leg this week.

In LaLiga, Albert Sambi Lokonga returned from injury to help Sevilla beat Real Sociedad 1-0.

Sambi had missed four league matches with a hamstring injury but came on in the 70th minute with the Spanish side already 1-0 up thanks to Chidera Ejuke’s effort.

The result puts Sevilla into the top half of the table.

Elsewhere in the Spanish top division, Karl Hein played a full 90 minutes as Real Valladolid lost 2-1 to relegation rivals Valencia.

Diego Lopez opened the scoring for Valencia before Juanmi Latasa levelled for Hein’s side. But Umar Sadiq won it in the second half to leave Valladolid 11 points from safety.

In the Women’s FA Cup, Laura Wienroither was a late substitute as Manchester City defeated Aston Villa to reach the semi-finals.

In the Football League, Maldini Kacurri made his return as he played 18 minutes in Bromley’s 2-1 defeat against Tranmere Rovers.

The centre back had missed the last six league fixtures but came on in the second half, shortly after Omari Patrick had netted the decisive goal for Rovers.
