MANCHESTER UNITED fans were delighted yesterday after a “special talent” scored two goals in two minutes against Southampton’s U21s.

18-year-old Ethan Wheatley’s brace helped United’s U21s on their way to a 6-3 win over the Saints.

Man Utd fans on X were stunned by Wheatley’s quick brace and declared him one to watch for the future.

One fan wrote: “Ethan Wheatley remember the name.”

Another joined in by writing: “Ethan Wheatley getting a brace for the U21’s. He’s cooking ”

A third wrote: “Ethan Wheatley, remember that name!”

While a fourth had big hopes for the youngster, writing: “Ethan Wheatley chasing that golden boot in 2026 then.”

Wheatley’s progress has seen him promoted from the U18s this season after starting the season on fire for them, scoring eight and assisting two in his seven games.

He has four goals and one assist in nine games so far for the U21s.

The fact that Wheatley’s team-mate Forson has been playing for both the U21s and the senior team this season could give him hope of a first-team pathway.

United are in the market for a striker next season to compliment Rasmus Hojlund but should Wheatley’s form continue he could be knocking on the manager’s door for a chance.
