Manchester United flop Antony has been slammed for cupping his ears towards Coventry City’s players after Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash.
The Red Devils went into the match at Wembley as huge favourites but a capitulation in normal time saw them blow a three-goal lead against a team who play in a league below them.
After scoring in the 95th minute to make it 3-3 having been 3-0 down, Coventry saw a dramatic late extra-time winner ruled out for offside and they also hit the bar.
United luckily forced a penalty shootout, coming out on top to book their place in the final after Rasmus Hojlund’s spot kick clinched a narrow victory.
Straight after Hojlund’s penalty hit the back of the net, Antony turned to the Coventry players and cupped his ears to antagonise the Championship side.
Antony was immediately criticised for his actions as former Coventry star Clinton Morrison told the BBC: ‘He needs to worry about his own job instead of Coventry.
‘Some of his performances this season shows he could be playing in the Championship.’
Ahead of the game, Antony launched a bizarre defence of his performances in a season which has seen him fail to score a single Premier League goal and produce one top-flight assist across 25 matches, despite the winger costing the club £86m.
Meanwhile, Morrison has warned United that they could lose the FA Cup final 7-0 when they take on rivals Manchester City.
‘If Man Utd play like that against Man City they will get beaten by six or seven,’ he added. ‘Coventry have been fantastic. Man Utd’s penalties were outstanding and Andre Onana made a big save – credit to Coventry.
