Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury in Arsenal’s recent 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. Although initial fears suggested a more severe issue, follow-up medical evaluations revealed only minor damage to Calafiori’s medial collateral ligament (MCL), leaving him sidelined for several weeks.
The 22-year-old’s injury will prevent him from participating in Arsenal’s crucial Champions League clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro next Wednesday. He is also expected to miss Italy’s Nations League fixtures in mid-November against Belgium and France, likely ruling him out of the international break.
Calafiori’s absence will impact Arsenal’s defensive options in key matches, including the London derby against Chelsea on November 10. However, the defender could potentially return for Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Sporting Lisbon and Premier League matches against West Ham and Manchester United, scheduled for late November and early December.
