Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has declined to comment on persistent transfer rumours linking Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres with a move to the Emirates.
The Swedish forward has been in sensational form since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in 2021, having previously struggled for consistency at Brighton & Hove Albion. Gyökeres has netted an astonishing 67 goals in 69 games for Sporting, making him one of the most prolific strikers in European football.
His exploits have reportedly drawn interest from several top clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, with the latter rumoured to be considering a reunion between Gyökeres and former Sporting manager Ruben Amorim.
“I would like to talk about the team, about the coaches, and how phenomenal they have been,” Arteta said. “The run they are in is incredible. I understand the question, but they have a lot of individual qualities. And yes, in that specific position, they have great players.”
