Myles Garrett makes his stance clear as Browns try last ditch effort to keep him

Defensive end Shemar Stewart has been rising up the draft boards after an elite show at the NFL Combine. His stats so far are surprisingly similar to what Garrett had at his Combine. Ironically, he is also from Garrett’s alma mater, Texas A&M.

The Cleveland Browns can pick Shemar Stewart with the No. 2 overall pick. At the same time, they could draft a few more crucial additions if they land a sizeable return for Garrett. It would be a win-win situation for everyone and help the team move towards a promising future.

The Cleveland Browns are in a difficult spot. Their leading superstar, Myles Garrett , is looking for a way out after eight stellar seasons with the franchise. He seems to be tired from the constant losing and wants to be a part of a contending team in the last few years of his career.

Defensive ends do not last very long in the NFL. Their bodies start to wear down as they continue to take hit after hit from multiple offensive linemen. With that in mind, he handed in a trade request and has been actively looking for a trade partner.

There are rumors of many suitors lining up to sign the 29-year-old. He wants to join a Super Bowl contending team. However, the Browns are not willing to trade their star pass rusher. They have now tried to give him another contract in an effort to keep him for the long term.

Myles Garrett is “not open to” a contract extension with the Browns. Normally, Browns GM Andrew Berry meets with agents at the NFL Combine about such matters, but Garrett and his camp, led by agent Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, have apparently slammed the door shut on negotiations.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot confirmed that Browns GM Andrew Berry is reluctant to field trade calls. At the same time, they have offered what could be the richest contract for a pass rusher. With numbers swirling in the $40 million region, Garrett will become the highest-paid non-QB in the league.

Browns have option of Myles Garrett V2.0 in Draft

The Cleveland Browns picked Myles Garrett with the first overall pick in 2017. This season, they hold the No. 2 overall pick with a lot of options to select from. They are looking to hold on to Deshaun Watson for the near future but still have a gaping hole at quarterback this season.

They could look at either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders as a future option. However, several executives are not that high on either of them. If the Browns do happen to be one of those teams, they could look at a potential replacement for Myles Garrett.
