SANTA ANA, CA — In a major recruiting win for the Texas Longhorns, Mater Dei High School star tight end Mark Bowman — widely regarded as the No. 1 TE in the nation — has announced his commitment to the University of Texas.
Bowman, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound standout, made his decision public on Saturday via a social media post, choosing Texas over offers from national powerhouses including Georgia, Alabama, and USC.
“I’m all in. Hook ‘em,” Bowman wrote, alongside photos in Longhorns gear.
Known for his elite route running, strong hands, and dominant blocking skills, Bowman has been a force in Mater Dei’s offense and a key target in the red zone. He caught 58 passes for 912 yards and 11 touchdowns in his junior season, helping lead the Monarchs to a state title run.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has made the tight end position a cornerstone of his offensive system, and Bowman is expected to make an immediate impact when he arrives in Austin.
His commitment marks a significant addition to Texas’s 2025 recruiting class, which continues to build momentum nationally.
Bowman’s decision reinforces Mater Dei’s reputation as a pipeline for top-tier college talent, and signals Texas’s growing reach into Southern California — long considered Pac-12 territory.
With the Longhorns set to enter their first season in the SEC, Bowman’s pledge is another sign that Texas is ready to compete with the nation’s elite.
