NBA Trade News: Golden State Warriors Secure #52 Overall 2025 Rookie Draft With Two-Way Contract To Join Horford, Peyton, And Melton

The Golden State Warriors have officially signed No. 52 pick Alex Toohey to a two-way NBA contract, completing the last pending rookie deal from the 2025 draft class. The move finalizes Golden State’s roster heading into training camp and gives the organization another developmental piece as it transitions into its post-dynasty identity.

Toohey, an Australian forward with a strong international résumé, was acquired by the Golden State Warriors as part of the seven-team blockbuster trade that featured Kevin Durant.

Alex Toohey’s NBA journey began when the Phoenix Suns selected him 52nd overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. His rights were later included in July’s massive seven-team trade that reshaped multiple rosters across the league. That deal not only shifted superstars like Durant but also funneled role players and prospects into new situations. Golden State acquired Toohey’s rights as part of the package, ultimately signing him to a two-way deal.

This contract structure allows Toohey to split time between the Golden State Warriors and their G-League affiliate, offering him a clear developmental path while giving the franchise roster flexibility. He now joins rookie Will Richard and returning two-way forward Jackson Rowe as part of the team’s growing pool of young contributors.
