New Free Agent Lists, Eberflus Speaks, NFL International, Kelce on ESPN, and Other Bears Bullets

It’s Day 45 of the Chicago Bears offseason. Is Gary Fencik the best player in franchise history to wear No. 45? Most definitely. Here is a rundown of every player who has worn the number with the Bears since the team’s inception, via Pro Football Reference.

Three weeks from today, NFL free agency opens its doors for players to sign contracts and make the verbal agreements that were put together during the negotiation period officially official. I hope you are as ready for it as I am.

The folks at CBS Sports split the pool of players into the best offensive free agents and the top defenders. Both lists are worth your time.

A look ahead at the NFL’s international slate of games:

While the Bears play the Browns and Steelers this season, both of those games are scheduled to be “home” games for Chicago’s football team.

Matt Eberflus explains (via CBS Sports) why he jumped right back into coaching and didn’t take a year off: “It was mainly my wife. She wanted me to go to work now, and I did, too,” Eberflus said. “I was excited about after a couple days, a couple weeks after taking that break [following his Week 13 firing]. I was excited to get back on it and had several phone calls from a bunch of different people. I was excited about looking at different opportunities, and this was the best opportunity that I felt was really cool for me to come back to Dallas.”

I’d like to jokingly remark that Eberflus is getting nudged out the door at every turn, but I do not have the comedic chops to make it land. I’ll work on my comedic timing when I get the chance later in the offseason.
