Parramatta Eels NRLW player Rueben Cherrington has been referred straight to the judiciary over an alleged bite on Holli Wheeler.
The incident in question occurred in the 66th minute of the Eels’ win over the Bulldogs on Friday night where Cherrington’s mouth seems to come into contact with Wheeler’s wrist in a tackle.
Going off previous biting incidents in the NRLW, if found guilty Cherrington could face a one-to-two game ban. Madison Bartlett was suspended for one game in 2022 over a bite, while Ash Werner was sent off and suspended for two games in 2023 over a bite.
The Eels kept their finals hopes alive on Friday night with a 46-14 win over the Bulldogs, but the curtain eventually fell on their season when the Titans produced a thrilling golden point win over the Raiders on Saturday to lock in sixth position on the ladder.
Should Cherrington be suspended it would take her out of contention for the Pacific Championships — or it could cost her selection for the 2026 Women’s All Stars match. Cherrington represented the Maori All Stars in this year’s clash.
Cherrington started at hooker in all 11 games for the Eels, finishing the season with four tries — including one on Friday night — while averaging 71 running metres and 31 tackles a game.
