Patriots’ Drake Maye Tries New Intense Workout To Prepare for 2025 Season

The New England Patriots have a talented quarterback who made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. That’s what they have in Drake Maye, but they did not too ago with Mac Jones in 2021.

Maye is determined not to be a one-year wonder as he looks to transcend himself in year two. The way to make himself is to push his limits in his training and what he can handle.

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss says Maye has been working out in the extreme cold weather. Maye was even spotted at Gillette Stadium and participated in some workouts to get used to the freezing temperatures in the New England area.

Maye was born and raised in North Carolina, where temperatures had some chilly moments but nothing like the northeast. He played high school and college football at North Carolina as he faced a mixture of ACC teams from warm and cool climates.

The Patriots look to play meaningful games in December and January when the temperatures will be brutal.

Maye managed to play well after coming off the bench; learning the system. In 13 games, he completed 225-of-238 passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 421 yards and two touchdowns in 54 carries.

In the four games played in December, Maye completed 77-of-111 passes for 818 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The team must build around Maye this offseason, especially at the offensive line. The good news is that Maye has a head coach in Mike Vrabel and an offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels, who is highly experienced in coaching and developing players in the cold New England weather. The Patriots could be a problem to face near the end of the season.
