Nasser Djiga looks set to join Rangers this summer in what could be another key piece of business under the club’s new recruitment strategy.
In recent years, player recruitment has been a weak spot for Rangers, but that seems to be changing quickly with the influence of the 49ers ownership group. Several new signings have already been confirmed, and more arrivals are expected before the new season kicks off.
One such addition is Wolves centre-back Djiga, who has recently been linked with a move to Ibrox. Now, according to an update from Liam Keen on X (7 July), the 22-year-old is poised to join Rangers on a season-long loan deal. While the agreement won’t include an option to buy, it will still provide manager Russell Martin with greater depth in defence.
Having already added Max Aarons to the backline, Martin continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers, with Djiga’s arrival expected to be confirmed soon.
Rangers are making bold moves in the transfer market Celtic dominated last season’s title race, leaving Rangers with much to improve on. Martin’s task now is to transform his squad into genuine contenders for domestic honours. Fortunately, the 49ers appear committed to supporting him with the necessary signings to compete at the top.
There’s still plenty of work ahead, but the early signs are encouraging. Following the recent defensive reinforcements, Rangers are now shifting their focus to bringing in attacking talent, with multiple targets already being pursued in that department.
