David Raya’s breathtaking reaction save during our 5-1 win against Manchester City has been shortlisted for Premier League Save of the Month for February.
Our number one made a brilliant stop to prevent Josko Gvardiol from heading in a corner with the content finely poised in the first half, and that has seen David recognised with a nomination for the divisional prize.
On a sensational afternoon of goalscoring, the part our Spanish shot-stopper played in helping us record one of our greatest-ever Premier League results should also be remembered. With us 1-0 ahead, City won a corner in the 23rd minute and Omar Marmoush fizzed a good delivery into the area.
Gvardiol timed his run well and got onto the cross at the front post, sending it goalwards. With barely any time to react, David showed excellent reflexes by springing out his left hand and managed to send the ball upwards onto his crossbar, allowing us to clear the danger.
