Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti today provided an insight into his plans for frontman Rodrygo, against Barcelona.
Real, of course, are primed to return to action in short order, when they welcome arch rivals Barca to Spain’s capital, for a top-of-the-table La Liga showdown.
Heading into proceedings, Los Blancos will be aware that a victory will see them all but guaranteed of the title, owing to an 11-point advantage atop the standings.
And yet, it has nevertheless been suggested by some sources in the media that key members of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad could be afforded a rest for El Clásico.
As much comes with Real Madrid fresh off a draining 120-minute Champions League quarter-final 2nd-leg meeting with Manchester City in midweek.
Speaking to the media this weekend, Ancelotti, as a result, was drawn specifically on his plans for one member of his attacking ranks for Sunday night’s action.
The player in question? Rodrygo.
With the Brazilian having featured from the off in each of Los Merengues last three outings, a member of the press questioned ‘will you rest him versus Barcelona?’.
Boss Ancelotti, however, shut down the chances of as much, by way of a humouous response:
“Yes. He can rest until 9pm (El Clasico kick off time).”
