Real Madrid and Manchester City came up against each other in the knockout phases of the Champions League for the third-straight season recently. It was the rubber tie, as both teams had succeeding in going through once each before this and went on to win the competition from there. And there was very little to separate the two this time around.
Both legs ended in draws. But Real Madrid ultimately did what they do best, and that is finding ways to win games of football. They went through on penalties in thrilling fashion.
One player to miss from the spot for Manchester City on the night was Bernardo Silva. Yet, that has not stopped him from being linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer.
As reported by the Daily Star, Real Madrid are leading the chase to sign Silva this summer. The Portuguese playmaker has a £50 million release clause in his contract. If he were to leave, he is thought to favour a move to Spain.

It did not take Silva long to bounce back from the disappointment of missing a key penalty against Real Madrid. He scored against Chelsea at Wembley to guide Manchester City into the FA Cup final.
Of course, Silva does not fit the type of player Real Madrid have signed in recent years. He is 29 years of age while the club have focused on bringing in youngsters. They have brought in players like Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba in their primes, but they were available as free agents.
So, it would be interesting to see if Real Madrid do end up making a move for Silva this summer. They are not the only ones being linked with him either. The likes of PSG and Barcelona are believed to be interested in the Portuguese international as well.
