Real Madrid could bid adieu to some of their current squad members in the summer as they prepare to usher in some top-quality new signings led by Kylian Mbappe.
One such player who appears destined to move on at the end of the season is out-of-favour midfielder Dani Ceballos.
The Spanish international signed a new contract with Real Madrid only last summer when he could have opted to leave for free, in the hope that he could fight and earn a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
However, a mixture of injuries and competition for places have meant that Ceballos has barely played this season, featuring in only 21 matches (503 minutes).
As such, Ceballos has decided to leave Real Madrid this summer and it appears that the club might not stand in his way.
Real Madrid set €8 million asking price
In fact, as reported by Fichajes, Real Madrid have set an asking price of only €8 million for Ceballos to facilitate his exit in the summer transfer window.
It does come off as a bit strange, considering that Los Blancos sold some of their academy players for a fee closer to that figure in the past.
Ceballos, at 27, is in his theoretical peak years and still has three years left on his contract. But it appears that Los Blancos are prepared to let him go for a cut-price fee in the summer.
And AC Milan have shown an interest in signing the Spanish midfielder as per the report. The Rossoneri are looking for midfield reinforcements and have identified Ceballos as a possible target.
Closer to home, Real Betis, Ceballos’ boyhood club, have also been linked with a move while Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Atletico Madrid have also emerged as a potential destination.
It remains to be seen how things evolve in the coming weeks, but what appears certain is that Ceballos will be on his way out this summer.
