Romeo Doubs Roars Back at Critics: Packers WR Refuses to Let Rookie Matthew Golden Be Dismissed Over ‘Mental Lapse’ Hype!”

The Green Bay Packers are eager to compete this upcoming season, especially with the young offensive talent they’ll have on the field. Quarterback Jordan Love is looking to silence the doubters after some claimed he regressed last year. Although Love missed several games due to injury, he’s aiming for a fully healthy and productive season.

With their first-round pick, the Packers selected wide receiver Matthew Golden out of Texas. Known for his speed and ability to get open, Golden has already started to embrace life in Green Bay, even interacting with fans.

“Starting to realize Green Bay not too big, so a lot of people gonna recognize me. But it’s a blessing just to be able to be around people that care about you … for me it’s just being able to show my face and show that I love being here,” Golden said.

Despite the early optimism, some remain skeptical about Golden’s impact in his rookie year.

“I also get the feeling some of the mental lapses that caused problems for Golden in college will make it hard for him to consistently remain ahead of a bunch of semi-experienced and talented receivers on a team that is trying to contend in 2025,” Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon wrote.

While Gagnon believes Golden’s mental miscues could be a concern, teammate Romeo Doubs sees things differently. Doubs, entering his fourth season with the Packers, praised the rookie’s work ethic and consistency.

“Oh, man. Kid’s a stud,” Doubs said Tuesday, via Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com. “Doesn’t say much, but he just comes in and works. He’s been real consistent in that area…kid is playing fast right now, so I’m excited to see it.”

Doubs’ words carry weight, as he’s nearing veteran status in the league. Golden remains hopeful for a standout rookie campaign—and based on the belief his teammates have in him, a big season could very well be on the horizon.
