WHAT HAPPENED?
Hollywood co-owners at SToK Racecourse have made a point of addressing every area of the club at SToK Racecourse. That grand plan has – as covered by the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series – included the local community and the Red Dragons’ women’s team.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Further funds are expected to be pumped into the first team squad this summer, as a step into League One is taken after back-to-back promotions, but Wrexham will be eager to nurture their own stars of the future. Jordan Davies and Max Cleworth have already trodden that path out of the youth ranks.
WHAT CREIGHTON SAID
Former Wrexham defender Mark Creighton hopes attention will soon be diverted in that area, posting on social media after seeing the Red Dragons’ youth team move to within two wins of becoming EFL Youth Alliance North West champions: “Still producing fantastic talent. Imagine how well our academy can do with a little more investment. We have big plans for the academy I am told, which is great news for the club and the people who have worked tirelessly while it was under funded for years and years.”
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
The academy will form part of Reynolds and McElhenney’s long-term vision for Wrexham. They have had to focus on the senior side for now, in a bid to get them climbing the divisions, but ongoing success at that level means time and funds can start to be spread a little thinner.
