Five Reds were in action for their respective nations – but the story of the night comes from Kobbie Mainoo, who made his senior international debut for England this evening. The 18-year-old fit right it, gliding across the middle of the park just moments after entering the fray.
Although the teenager was only on for 15 minutes plus stoppage time, he showed glimpses of his quality and earned praise from several media outlets.
For instance, the Evening Standard wrote: ‘Huge ovation when sent on for his debut late on. Every bit as composed as billed, with one delightful turn in midfield.’
Marcus Rashford was also called on from the bench, while Harry Maguire started the game against Brazil, making way for Lewis Dunk with 20 minutes to go. The South Americans broke the deadlock late on, with Endrick cushioning home a rebound from Vinicius Jr.’s saved effort to win it for his side.
Danish Reds duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen were also in action tonight. The latter played the full game, and the former was substituted five minutes from time, as their national team were held 0-0 at home to Switzerland.
Hojlund is the person with the lowest score on the Danish side. In 83 minutes on the field, Hojlund only had 10 succesful passes, 2 shots and lost 7/10 duels
