Super Bowl Champion Predicts Myles Garrett Offer Browns ‘Can’t Refuse’

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett requested a trade earlier this month and speculation as to his eventual destination has been rampant ever since. The Browns maintain that they will not trade him, while Garrett has specified he wants to be with a team that can contend for a Super Bowl.

As currently constructed, the Browns don’t appear to be such a team considering they finished 3-14 this season and are in one of the more challenging divisions in the NFL.

The same cannot be said about the Washington Commanders, the team that former NFL defensive end and Super Bowl XLVI champion Chris Canty believes will offer the Browns a substantial package this offseason for Garrett.

“I suspect the Washington Commanders will make the Cleveland Browns an offer they can’t refuse,” Canty said on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike. “When you assess where the Washington Commanders need to get better, it’s clearly on the defensive side of the ball and being able to add more playmakers in their front seven.”

Washington made a surprise run to the NFC Championship this season in quarterback Jayden Daniels’s rookie year. The defense was a clear weakness relative to the offense, and the Philadelphia Eagles exposed it in that NFC title game. It’s a clear area for improvement this offseason.

“It makes too much sense for it not to happen,” Canty said. “They got the cap space, they have the draft capital. This is a move that should happen this offseason.”

The Commanders have the third most cap space entering this offseason, and with the immediate emergence of Daniels, there window to compete is open. Acquiring a former Defensive Player of the Year and four-time All-Pro selection in Myles Garrett could be the move that takes them to the next level.
