The New York Mets have been struggling offensively to start the season, but things are looking up with the return of key players like Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez soon. Still, there’s a bigger issue they might need to fix, and that’s their center field position. It’s been underwhelming, and with the playoffs on the horizon, they might need an upgrade.

A trade could be the answer. One potential target? Chicago White Sox’s center fielder, Luis Robert Jr. According to Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller, Robert could be available for a trade, and the Mets might take a swing at him. While Brandon Nimmo is capable of playing center, Robert could be a solid option for the Mets’ outfield.

Robert had a strong run between 2021 and 2023, but his 2024 season was a mess. He only played 100 games and posted an underwhelming .657 OPS. This season hasn’t started much better, either, with just six hits in 39 at-bats. Still, the Mets could take a chance on him, hoping he can return to his superstar form.
