She sent fans into a frenzy last week after a trailer dropped for her new self-titled documentary on Netflix.
But it might not be her only appearance on the small screen, as insiders tell Closer that Victoria Beckham, 51, is eyeing up a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey to finally set the record straight about the ongoing family feud with her son Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham.
In one scene in the trailer, Victoria is seen breaking down in tears as she opens up about her fashion label being millions ‘in the red’, and in another, viewers watch as David, her husband of 26 years, comforts and reassures her that the family is proud of her. While David, 50, and her son Cruz, 20, showed their support for Victoria by promoting the show on social media, her estranged son, Brooklyn, 26, remained noticeably quiet.
‘Victoria really wants to safeguard herself and the Beckham brand in the US. She fears that the family feud with Brooklyn and Nicola could end up doing some serious damage to the family name if it’s perceived as petty by the public, or worse, if it makes villains out of her and David,’ reveals the source.
‘Victoria knows they’re not billionaires like the Peltz family, but when it comes to their celebrity, she feels they have a lot more currency. So she’s weighing up having a big sit-down chat ready, and she’s already been in talks with Oprah Winfrey.’
All four of Victoria’s children – Brooklyn, Romeo, 22, Cruz, and Harper, 14 – will appear in the three-part series, which was filmed before rumours of the bust-up with the Peltz-Beckhams emerged.
The tension is thought to have started in 2022 when Nicola, 30, opted not to wear a dress designed by Victoria at her wedding. Things eventually came to a head when both Brooklyn and Nicola failed to make an appearance at any of David’s 50th birthday parties in May. Their decision not to invite his family to their vow renewal in August only deepened the divide.
With Brooklyn showing no signs of making amends, now could be the perfect time to reveal all.
‘Victoria feels she could cut through it all with the truth of the matter, and telling the world with Oprah could be a good attack on Nicola – who she feels is encouraging Brooklyn’s estrangement. Nicola’s real character could be exposed,’ the insider reveals.
‘Victoria has said she wouldn’t be afraid to wield her power in this situation. Oprah has done some earth-shattering sit-downs and Victoria thinks that if she and David did a joint interview and addressed the family issue, it would be a good get.
‘It’s something Victoria also wants to have in her back pocket in her defence against Nicola. She knows there’s no controlling either of them now, but she can at least get ahead of it. She’s worried about there being growing backlash and haters on both sides, which will just turn it into a really ugly mess.’
Oprah has long been a fan of Victoria’s designs and, in 2010, the fashionista praised the host for looking ‘magnificent’ in one of her dresses. And in 2008, David and Victoria appeared via video link to chat to the star, 71, about their friendship with Tom Cruise as part of a special tribute show for the Hollywood actor.
Around the same time, it was also claimed Oprah and talk show rival Jay Leno were battling it out to secure Victoria’s first full TV interview in the US. ‘Victoria is swaying towards Oprah because their mutual friend Tom Cruise has been singing her praises. She knows she’ll be quizzed but Oprah will be kind to her,’ a source said previously.
Should the sit-down go ahead, Victoria – who appeared alongside Oprah on the front cover of Vogue last year – and David would follow in the footsteps of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as well as singer Adele, who have all spilled the beans on intimate details of their private lives. In 2021, the Sussexes hit the headlines when they discussed their experience as senior royals, while Adele talked about her divorce in the same year.
Meanwhile, Victoria’s documentary comes after the success of David’s award-winning series, Beckham – released on Netflix in 2023 – which won rave reviews from fans, who praised the pair and their relationship.
While Victoria’s team have denied the interview is happening, the source adds, ‘Coming off her documentary, Victoria is feeling a lot of love and support from fans as it’s obvious that Nicola and Brooklyn don’t really have a dedicated fan base like that. Victoria’s been so worried about what people think, but now she realises that she could one day set the record completely straight, like an adult, and leave the Peltz side speechless.’
